 Welcome to Division 91

Originally, we were a part  of the Western Southern Alameda County Division 59.  In 2000, it sponsored the formation of the F.U.N. Division 91.  We became the last division to become affiliated with CalRTA. The letters FUN represent the cities of Fremont, Union City, and Newark which form the South Eastern Bay cor- ridor.  We have about 470 FUN loving mem- bers.

Who is CalRTA?

California State Retired Teachers Association CalRTA, formed in 1929 with 40 members, has grown to  50,000 members and 91 divisions that cover the entire State.  With active grassroots participation at the divison level and an excellent legislative  advocacy program in Sacramento and Washington,D.C., we have become the dominant force in protecting and enhancing the benefits of retired eduators.

For more information about what  CalRTA does to support retired teachers and public eduation move your mouse to the upper left column and click the links to CalRTA and Area 4.

What  Do  We Do at the Division Level?

As indicated by the Help for Seniors link on the Area 4 site, we are committed to assisting our fellow retirees,  students, and working teachers. Each year we award scholarships to students in the Teacher Credential Program at Cal State East Bay. Also, we provide several stipends each year to assist teachers who pay for  classroom projects or supplies .

We enjoy retirement!  Locally, we have events such  as  luncheon  meetings, travel outings, committee meetings, and other opportunities for fellowship and fun.   An excellent source for information about who we are and what we do at the local level is  our newsletter.  You may want to visit a newsletter links in the left column and page through it.

Personal Interest Surfing

If you have some spare time, you may want to visit the Leisure Pursuits links.  In particular the Daily News links provides an excellent set of local, California, national,  and international links for staying current on topics and events.

  Social Security Fairness

This group is dedicated to informing the public about  the  WEP and  GPO provisions  of social security  that adversely impact the income of thousands of retired educators and public workers in  14 states including  California. It, CalRTA,  and other major associations are in a Coalition  working hard to get Congress to pass a  bill to  eliminate  these unfair  penalties.  For more information and a current update click www.ssfairness.com .
Core Purpose: To enhance and protect the benefits of retired Educators.
